Seven Facts About Me (That Most People Don't Know)
I’ve been tagged for this meme several times now. I think I was first tagged by Eilleen at Consumption Rebellion months ago, and I haven’t completed it until now.
Marc over at Welsh Scribe has posted a great article today on meme’s. Really worthwhile reading, and he’ll be posting his own Seven Facts later this week.
Just to make this a little different, I won’t be tagging anyone. Because I’m afraid that you’ll all be like me and not do anything about it for several months. So if this appeals to you and you’d like to participate, consider yourself tagged and post away!
1. I speak three languages and can swear in five although I choose not to. English, Indonesian and Auslan (Australian Sign Language). I actually have a Diploma in Applied Indonesian Language, however haven’t spoken or read it for so long I doubt I’d be able to keep a conversation going. I’m currently in my second year of studying Auslan, with another two years to go. Then two years full time to get Interpreter qualification although I’ve been interpreting for two deaf men at church for the last six or seven years.
2. I don’t like milk except in my coffee, which I have quite milky. This means that I eat breakfast cereal dry and crunchy. Orange juice or yoghurt on cereal has been suggested, however I can’t handle the texture. Crunchy is good!
3. I have a tattoo and a body piercing.
4. I’ve been driving for 23 years and have never changed a tyre. Not that I’ve never had a flat, just that I’ve never had to change it. Once I thought I was going to have to – I do know the theory – but a guy walked over from a car dealership and did it for me. No, I wasn’t playing the poor damsel in distress!
5. I have fundamentalist Christian beliefs. I don’t go with the doctrine that a women’s place is only in the home and she shouldn’t cut her hair or wear trousers (Paul was never my favourite apostle, bit of a misogynist that man) however I do believe the bible is true and relevant today. For those who like the details, I’m go to C3 Monash, a pentecostal church.
6. I used to ride horses in one and three day eventing and dressage, as well as sporting events. I was very bad at it, however had a great time and loved the people and horses. I gave up riding competitively after three bad falls that left me on crutches for about six months one year (told you I was terrible!). The last time I rode a horse was when I was five and a half months pregnant. I still think the smell of horse sweat is one of the best smells around.
7. I’m married to an army guy who fell in love with me when I was eighteen and he was twenty. We were married in 2005, seventeen years after we first met. In that time, I’d been married, divorced, and had a child. We were together for a year before becoming engaged, and lived 3000km apart. We saw each other three times that year for a grand total of fifteen days in person and then became engaged over the phone.
