My thanks to all who completed the recent Reader Survey. We received quite a lot of responses, which was great. Overall it seems that people are quite happy with the site and the direction that we’re going – it’s very gratifying to know that I’m helping people with what they need.

There were three topics that came up enough to be remarkable:
The search feature; Previously it was the default wordpress search feature and when a person searched on a word it would pull up the entire post. That meant there were only two posts on the page and the searcher had to keep pressing the “Next Page” button to see more. I hadn’t realised that the search was doing this, so thank you to all those who brought it to my attention. I’ve now had the search replaced with Google Custom Search which is significantly more effective and better organised. Google search brings up the titles and the first sentence or so of the post, makingit much easier to see what you’d like to read.
Frequency of posting; Some people commented that the frequency changed a lot, some said that they’d like me to post more often and others said it was just right. Recently I’ve been working on posting three times a week on schedule, and have been doing this for the last two weeks. Prior to that the posting frequency was quite erratic, with some weeks having up to four posts, some weeks having only one and most weeks posting two or three times. What’s going to happen in the future though, is that I’ll only be posting twice a week on Monday’s and Thursdays. I’ll be posting a post tomorrow, Tuesday, because this post isn’t your normal business post, and after that there’ll be an article posted twice a week – unless there’s something special that needs to be said that necessitates an extra post.
What do I do?; This one really threw me to be honest. I know what I do and I’d assumed that my readers did too. I hadn’t realised that there’s actually nowhere on my site that I list out in detail exactly what I do and who hires me. This one is going to be corrected in the very near future, and I’ll definitely be posting about it when the site is updated.
I’m planning to run the survey on a fairly regular basis, roughly every six to eight months. So it will be interesting to see what the comments are next time around!
Cheers and thank you!
