During the first week of each month we give away a business book to a reader of this blog. All you need to do is leave a comment on this post. At the end of the week I’ll select a comment using Random Number Generator and the lucky winner will be announced here. I’ll post the book anywhere in the world, so the giveaway is open to everyone!
This month we’re giving away another of Seth Godin’s books, his latest and best seller “Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us“.
From the back cover:
“Without leaders, there are no followers. You’re a leader. We need you.
In this fascinating book, Seth Godin argues that today everyone has an opportunity to start a movement – to bring together a tribe of like-minded people and do amazing things. And yet too many people ignore the opportunity to lead because they are ‘sheepwalking’ their way through their lives and work, too afraid to question wheter their compliance is doing them – or their company – any good.
Tribes is for those who don’t want to be sheep and instead have a desire to do fresh and exciting work. If you have a passion for what you want to do and the drive to make it happen, there is a tribe of fellow employees, or customers, or investors, or readers, just waiting for you to connect them with each other and lead them where they want to go.”
I’ll be drawing this month’s winner on Saturday 9th May. So leave a comment and at the end of the week we’ll find out who the lucky winner is!
Winner Update
This month’s winner, selected by www.random.org, is Maree, the very first commenter!

You know my favourite far side mug is the one with all the sheep on it and there’s this one sheep standing up saying “wait, wait listen to me we don’t all have to just be sheep!”….dont think they make it anymore…
Anyway I dont want to be a sheep!
Nice prize

Seems like Seth is promoting a topic that during this rush to the internet and the attraction marketing craze it has created he is in the right place at the right time. People are like cattle, they need someone or something to lead them. Just look at the fast lane on you local the freeway. Why is their always a line of people following the slow guy in the fast lane and all the other lanes are open?

I, too, love anything Seth Godin writes. Short, sweet, sassy and obnoxious!!
I have the audio version of his book, but I love having a physical books on my shelves so I can quickly refer to them when needed. (I hope that doesn’t disqualify me!).
Thanks for putting this contest on. Best of luck to all!

I’ve never wanted to be a sheep but for so long the only alternative seemed to be a wolf. I’d love to get my hands on Seth Godin’s book to find out how to be a shepherd instead!

I was put off this book by all the fear-based marketing hype he did on his blog originally, but have recently considered buying it to see what he has to say about blogging. So many purple cows out there now painting spots on themselves and writing 3,000 word posts that used to be 300. This would be a fantastic prize.
I prefer the concept of communities to tribes. I know our memes have evolved more than our genes and we still have tribal instincts and primal fears, but I think I may have been some tribe’s white witch in a previous life; the very word scares me a bit. Makes me think I may have been eaten or expelled in a previous incarnation.
By the way, are you or your daughter bribeable, a Wolvie poster, couple of cinema tickets?…

I subscribe to Seths daily blog http://sethgodin.typepad.com/ which i would recommend to everyone. I haven’t yet read tribes, but purple cow sits on my desk at work. He always seems to me like a lone voice in a sea of mediocrity. Would love to win the book!

Winning this book would come at the perfect time for the wife and I. We’ve both just realized we want to take the big step of stepping outside the box and pursuing something that will really satisfy us. Cheers to Seth Godin for writing this book, I’m sure it will help a lot of people realize their full potential.
